The final of the 10th edition of Taiwo Afolabi U-17 Cup will hold this Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex, Onikan, Lagos. A total of 32 teams (boys) and 24 teams (girls) took part in the preliminaries matches of this year’s edition.

To get to the final, Futune FA, Oshodi, defeated Infinity FC, Eti-Osa in the boys’ semifinal, while Apex FC Agege lost 3-5 to Dynamo FC, Iwaya, in a penalty shootout after their encounter ended 0-0.

In the Girls’ semifinal Starlet Girls, Idimu, defeated Puma Queens 2-1, while Fela Girls lost 4-5 to Labro Queens, Ipaja, after their encounter ended 1-1.

Sponsored by the Executive Chairman, Sifax Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, the competition has produced some talented footballers for Nigeria in past editions.

According to the organisers, Sunday’s final at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex will be attended by important dignitaries, including some present and ex-international players.
