Nigerian singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has responded to criticism over her latest outfit after a TikTok video sparked thousands of comments online.

The backlash followed the circulation of a video showing the singer wearing a black top, a sheer polka-dot skirt and a pink gele alongside Tiwa Savage.

Many social media users on Sunday criticised the outfit, with some blaming her stylist while others questioned her fashion choices.

A TikTok user, Chomzy soft, wrote, “Ayra’s stylist don start again.”

Another user, Shania wa Ahmed, commented, “Ayra starr clothes always disappointing.”

A user identified as Jerryisaboy also wrote, “Ayra starr dressing always dey vex me.”

The comments gained traction, attracting thousands of likes and replies as fans and critics debated the singer’s appearance.

Reacting to the criticism, Ayra Starr appeared unfazed.

In the comment section of the video, she wrote, “Yall relax in the comments I’ve worn way worse and I’m going to wear wayyy worse so manage your yarns.”

Her response has since generated fresh reactions, with supporters praising her confidence while critics maintained their disapproval of her style.

However, this is not the first time the singer has responded to criticism over her dressing.

In April 2023, Ayra Starr addressed the issue during an interview with Kiss FM in London.

The singer, who has frequently come under scrutiny for wearing skimpy outfits, said those criticising her had no right to tell her how to dress.

She said, “You are not my pastor, you are not Jesus, you are not my mother, so keep it to yourself. I don’t wanna know. I don’t give a damn.”

The comment generated widespread reactions at the time, with supporters arguing that fashion choices are a matter of personal freedom, while critics insisted public figures should be mindful of their influence.

Months later, in November 2023, the singer again found herself responding to criticism after celebrating the turnout at her Stockholm concert.

At the time, she had written on X, “Stockholm has set the bar so high !!!! Thank you for giving me all the energy I needed !! See you next year.”

While congratulating her, a social media user criticised her choice of clothing.

The user wrote, “Congratulations on your amazing performance. But I must add that your skirts are becoming shorter and shorter because the day. Your stylist should do better. Hope this helps.”

The comment did not sit well with the singer.

Responding, Ayra Starr made it clear that she was not interested in opinions from people she believed were not her target audience.

She wrote, “A bunch of useless men in my CS telling me what to wear and what I shouldn’t , shey e ni ise ni ? MF clout chasers

“Like I said everything I do is for the girlies and stay the fuck away you are not the target audience! Disgusting

“Btw I don’t care at all , I’m just pointing out how stupid they look from here incase they’re not aware.”

Over the years, Ayra Starr’s fashion choices have remained a recurring topic of discussion on social media.

While critics often describe her outfits as too revealing, supporters argue that the singer has consistently expressed herself through bold and unconventional fashion.
