Osun APC denies sponsoring attacks ahead of guber polls

All Progressives Congress (APC)

• Urges security agencies to stem rising tide of political violence
• CP not cooperating with me, Adeleke laments
• Gunmen abduct Osun LG vice chairman
• Adeleke safe as stage collapses during rally in Ijebu-Jesa

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has dissociated itself from the mayhem unleashed on innocent citizens of the state by some suspected political thugs, calling on heads of security agencies to stem the rising tide of political violence in the state ahead of the governorship election.

Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Oluwole Oke, while reacting to the allegation that the party sponsored attacks in the state during a media briefing in Osogbo yesterday, dismissed all Adeleke’s allegations.

Oke, however, accused the governor of parading armed thugs in the state and making Osun ungovernable.

He urged the security agencies to intervene and stop political violence in the state.
MEANWHILE, Adeleke has accused the state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Ibrahim Gotan, of not cooperating with his administration amid growing security concerns ahead of the August 2026 governorship election.

The governor made the allegation during a media chat with select journalists.

However, the Vice Chairman of Ifedayo Local Council of Osun State, Debo Farounbi, has been abducted by gunmen following an attack on Ora community, a border town along the Osun-Kwara boundary.

HOWEVER, there was palpable fear after Adeleke, his sister, Modupe Adeleke, and other state officials fell after a stage collapsed during the inauguration of his re-election held at Ijebu-Jesa in Ori-Ade Local Council of the state yesterday.

The collapse of the stage led to some members of the Accord Party and officials sustaining various degrees of injuries, but the condition of the governor is yet to be ascertained after security operatives helped him and other dignitaries out of the ruined stage.
