Adumu-Ama community hails Dokubo-Asari, seeks stronger partnership for Kula’s development

Adumu-Ama Community has commended Mujahid Dokubo-Asari's leadership.

The people of Adumu-Ama Community in Kula Kingdom, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, have commended the Amanyanabo of the Source (Elem Kalabari, Torusaramapiri), Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, for what they described as his leadership and support in promoting peace and stability within the Kalabari nation.

The community also called for stronger collaboration among traditional institutions to foster sustainable development and lasting peace in Kula Kingdom.

The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the King of Adumu-Ama Community, HRH King (Engr.) Barlow Harrison Adokiye, Ogoye Kala-Amafia IX, to Dokubo-Asari’s residence in Degema.

The delegation included the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Kula Kingdom, HRH King Sir (Dr.) Kroma Amabibi Eleki, JP, Sara XIV, alongside chiefs, community leaders, women and youth representatives.

Speaking during the visit, King Adokiye expressed appreciation to Dokubo-Asari for the guidance and support he received during the process that culminated in his coronation in 2024.

He said the encouragement and influence of the traditional leader contributed significantly to his emergence as king and pledged to continue seeking his counsel in the administration of Adumu-Ama Community.

According to him, closer cooperation between Adumu-Ama and Elem Kalabari would strengthen peace, unity and sustainable progress within the community and the wider Kula Kingdom.

Also speaking, the Amanyanabo of Kula Kingdom, King Eleki, thanked Dokubo-Asari for what he described as his goodwill and continued support for the people of Kula.

He noted that the visit was aimed at reinforcing the historical and cultural ties between Kula Kingdom and Elem Kalabari, while deepening collaboration for mutual development.

In his remarks, Dokubo-Asari lamented what he described as decades of neglect and underdevelopment in Kula Kingdom despite its contributions to Nigeria’s oil wealth.

He urged governments at all levels to address the developmental challenges confronting communities in the area, warning that continued neglect could have serious implications for the welfare and future of the people.

The traditional ruler also identified internal divisions and prolonged chieftaincy disputes as factors that had contributed to the area’s developmental setbacks.

“There should be an end to litigation,” he said. “It is time for all warring factions and well-meaning people of Kula to engage in introspection, put an end to all internal wranglings, and embrace peace for the progress and posterity of Kula Kingdom.”

Dokubo-Asari stressed that unity remained essential to unlocking the kingdom’s potential and ensuring meaningful development for future generations.

Among those present during the visit was the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, an indigene of Kula Kingdom.

The meeting underscored growing calls by traditional leaders for reconciliation, community cohesion and increased government attention to the developmental needs of oil-producing communities in Rivers State.
