As part of activities marking the 2026 World Environment Day, Purelife Health has partnered with Wecyclers, with support from the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), to launch a recycling collector at Osapa London Junction, Jakande, Lekki, Lagos.
The initiative, unveiled on June 3, is aimed at promoting responsible waste disposal and recycling among residents, businesses, and visitors within the Lekki corridor, while supporting efforts to build a cleaner and healthier environment across Lagos State.
According to the organisers, the recycling collector will serve as a dedicated drop-off point for recyclable materials such as plastic bottles, aluminium cans, cartons, and other approved waste, making recycling more accessible and convenient for the public.
The launch comes ahead of World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5, and underscores the commitment of Purelife Health, Wecyclers, and LAWMA to advancing environmental sustainability and community wellbeing through strategic collaboration.
Speaking at the launch, a representative of Purelife Health highlighted the link between environmental health and overall wellness.
“A healthy environment is fundamental to a healthy life. As an organisation committed to promoting wellness, we recognise that public health extends beyond healthcare services to include the quality of the environment in which people live and work. This partnership reflects our commitment to creating healthier communities through sustainable action,” the representative said.
The organisation noted that environmental challenges such as indiscriminate waste disposal, flooding caused by blocked drainage systems, and pollution continue to pose serious threats to urban communities.
It added that the partnership seeks to address these issues by encouraging recycling and responsible waste management practices, while fostering long-term behavioural change among residents.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the initiative will strengthen recycling infrastructure in the Lekki area and contribute to broader efforts by government and private sector actors to improve environmental sustainability and public health outcomes across Lagos.
