Ekiti 2026: Group canvases support for Oyebanji’s reelection

Biodun Oyebanji, Ekiti State governor

The Director of EKSU Alumni Diaspora Mobilisation, Mr. Ope Alebiosu, has called on eligible voters across Ekiti State to support the re-election of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Alebiosu described Governor Oyebanji’s administration as one that has demonstrated purposeful leadership, inclusive governance, and a commitment to sustainable development, earning the confidence of stakeholders both at home and across the global Ekiti diaspora.

According to him, the governor’s approach to governance has strengthened unity, enhanced accountability, and promoted people-centered policies that have contributed significantly to the state’s progress.

“The forthcoming election presents another opportunity for Ekiti people to consolidate the gains already recorded under the current administration. This is not merely an election about leadership; it is a decision about sustaining stability, development, and a shared vision for the future of our state,” he stated.

Alebiosu noted that the growing support for Governor Oyebanji from alumni associations, professional groups, community leaders, and Ekiti indigenes in the diaspora reflects a broad consensus that the state is moving in the right direction.

He expressed confidence that a second term would provide the platform for the consolidation of ongoing projects and the implementation of new initiatives aimed at accelerating development across the state.

Among the expected priorities of a renewed mandate, he listed accelerated infrastructure development across the sixteen local government areas, expanded economic opportunities for youths and entrepreneurs, increased investment in education and healthcare, strengthened agricultural development, enhanced digital innovation, and deeper engagement with the Ekiti diaspora to attract investment and global expertise.

Alebiosu therefore urged residents of the state to participate peacefully in the electoral process and exercise their civic responsibility on election day.

“Every vote cast on June 20 is an investment in continuity, progress, and the collective aspiration for a more prosperous Ekiti State. I encourage all eligible voters to come out in large numbers and support the vision of sustained development and inclusive governance,” he said.

He further called on citizens to uphold the values of peace, unity, integrity, and civic responsibility before, during, and after the election.

“Together, we can consolidate the achievements already recorded and position Ekiti State for greater accomplishments in the years ahead,” he added.
