Pernod Ricard Nigeria has reinforced its commitment to consumer protection and the fight against counterfeit products through closer collaboration with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The renewed commitment was highlighted during a courtesy visit by the company’s senior management team to NAFDAC’s Lagos office, where both organisations discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in ensuring product integrity, promoting responsible business practices and supporting sustainable growth within the industry.
Speaking during the visit, the Operations Director of Pernod Ricard Nigeria, Bode Omosagba, underscored the company’s support for NAFDAC’s regulatory mandate and efforts to safeguard consumers.
According to him, the company recognises the vital role played by NAFDAC in protecting public health, maintaining product quality standards and creating a conducive environment for business development.
Omosagba noted that Pernod Ricard Nigeria remains committed to working closely with the agency in advancing consumer safety and tackling the challenge of counterfeit products in the market.
He also highlighted the company’s sustainability initiatives, including the Glass to Life campaign, which encourages the collection and recycling of used bottles to promote environmental sustainability. He further referenced the company’s global responsible drinking campaign, Drink More Water, designed to encourage moderation and responsible alcohol consumption.
Pernod Ricard Nigeria markets a range of premium brands, including locally produced Imperial Blue, alongside internationally recognised labels such as Martell Cognac, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Absolut Vodka, The Glenlivet Scotch Whisky and Chivas Regal Whisky.
Members of the delegation included Corporate Affairs Manager, Nnenna Duru; Head of Supply Chain and Demand Planning, Adebisi Afolabi; and Supply/Logistics Coordinator, Abayomi Oguntola.
Responding, Dr. Olakunle Olaniran, Director of NAFDAC’s Port Inspection Directorate, commended the company for its commitment to regulatory compliance and responsible corporate conduct.
He reaffirmed NAFDAC’s dedication to protecting public health while facilitating trade, investment and economic growth, stressing that strong collaboration between regulators and industry stakeholders is essential to curbing counterfeiting and enhancing consumer confidence.
Dr. Olaniran also advocated increased local manufacturing and technology transfer, describing them as key drivers of Nigeria’s industrialisation and economic development.
