The National Programmes Coordinator of Rotary Family Health Days (RFHD), Past District Governor Bola Oyebade, has urged Nigerians to take advantage of the three-day free healthcare outreach designed to provide medical screenings, preventive care and referrals for various health conditions across the country.
Oyebade, while speaking at a media parley and the official launch of the programme held at the Rotary Centre, Ladoke Akintola Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, said the initiative underscores Rotary’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of families, particularly vulnerable and underserved communities.
According to him, the three-day programme, which started yesterday, June 25 and ends Saturday, June 27, 2026, will be implemented simultaneously across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, through Rotary’s six districts in Nigeria.
Oyebade disclosed that Rotary is targeting no fewer than 80,000 beneficiaries through 80 designated outreach sites nationwide, with each site expected to attend to at least 1,000 persons during the exercise.
He said that the programme was being implemented in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health, states’ ministries of health, primary healthcare centres and several non-governmental organisations.
The Rotary leader stressed that all services provided during the outreach, including malaria testing and treatment, HIV screening, Hepatitis testing, polio vaccination, breast cancer screening, dental examinations and eye checks, would be completely free, making quality healthcare accessible to citizens who may not ordinarily afford medical consultations and screenings.
Oyebade noted that hundreds of Rotary clubs across the country would mobilise volunteers and healthcare personnel to man the various centres, ensuring effective service delivery throughout the exercise.
The District Governor, Rotary International, District 9112, covering parts of Lagos and Ogun states, Lanre Adedoyin, said the programme involves the six Rotary districts in Nigeria and the citizens should take advantage of the programme to know their health status and tell others.
The District Governor Nominee, Rotary International, District 9111, comprising parts of Lagos and Ogun states, Dr Samuel Ayetutu, appreciated the partnership of the government but also asked that it should do more in the area of healthcare.
