Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma have arrested a suspected logistics supplier alleged to be supplying arms to bandits in the Northeast zone, saying that he was arrested along Sokoto – Gusau highway in Zamfara State.

The OPFY authority said that the operation underscores the military’s sustained efforts to destroy the supply networks that sustain bandits and other criminal groups operating across the zone.

The authority of Operation Fansan Yamma said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted by troops as part of ongoing security measures aimed at ending terrorism and prevent the criminals from getting logistics and operational materials.

The suspect was said to be driving a Honda Civic vehicle when soldiers discovered a cache of military-grade items concealed inside his vehicle.

Intensive search led to the recovery of 150 pairs of combat boots, alongside other tactical equipment, including three jackknives, three electric shockers, a tear gas canister, a military beret and a belt.

The troops confiscated several communication devices, including two Android phones, an iPad, and a digital wristwatch, which will aid ongoing intelligence and investigations.

Operation Fassan Yamma management said that the arrest is a significant disruption of the logistics chain that help criminal groups and armed bandits to sustain their operations.

The military authority noted that the latest arrest highlights the effectiveness of the intensified stop-and-search operations being conducted by the troops of Operation Fansan Yamma across the North-West.

“The suspect remains in military custody for further investigation, while the recovered items have been secured as exhibits”, OPFY authority said.

“The operation reinforces the Armed Forces’ commitment to prevent terrorist groups from movement, scattering their support structures, restoring peace and security in Zamfara State and the wider North-West zone”
