Burna Boy sets historic billboard record, becomes most-charted African artiste on hot 100

Nigerian Grammy-winning star, Burna Boy, has achieved another major career milestone, becoming the African artiste with the highest number of entries on the prestigious US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The record was secured following the debut of Dai Dai, the official song of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, which features Burna Boy alongside global pop icon Shakira. The song’s entry on the chart marks Burna Boy’s ninth appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, placing him ahead of fellow Nigerian star Tems and establishing a new benchmark for African music on the global stage.

The achievement further cements Odogwu crooner’s status as one of Africa’s most successful musical exports and underscores the growing influence of Afrobeats in international markets.

Before this latest feat, Burna Boy and Tems were tied with eight Billboard Hot 100 entries each. However, the success of Dai Dai has now propelled the self-styled ‘African Giant’ into sole possession of the record, adding another accolade to an already remarkable career.

The collaboration with Shakira has generated significant global attention since its release, combining Burna Boy’s signature Afro-fusion sound with the Colombian singer’s international appeal.

As the official soundtrack of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the song has enjoyed widespread exposure across continents, introducing Burna Boy’s music to even broader audiences.

Over the years, Burna Boy has consistently expanded his global footprint through chart-topping projects, sold-out international tours, Grammy recognition, and high-profile collaborations with leading artistes across different genres.

His Billboard success reflects not only his personal growth as an artiste but also the increasing global appetite for African sounds and storytelling. Fans and music enthusiasts have since taken to social media to celebrate the achievement, describing it as a landmark moment for Nigerian and African music.

With nine Billboard Hot 100 entries now to his name and a FIFA World Cup anthem adding to his growing catalogue of global successes, the Last Last, L.I.F.E, Twice as Tall hitmaker continues to redefine the possibilities for African artistes on the international stage.
