Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola (rtd); Oyo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Moses Adeyemo; the Asiwaju of Ijeshaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, and others, on Saturday attended the final burial ceremony of Chief (Mrs.) Alice Idowu Oladokun.
Mrs. Oladokun was the mother of former Oyo State Deputy Governor, Chief Iyiola Oladokun.
The burial service took place at Immanuel Baptist Church, Ado-Awaye, Oyo State, also attracted members of the Body of Benchers, Justices of the Court of Appeal, High Court judges, and other prominent personalities from within and outside the state.
In his tribute, Justice Ariwoola described the deceased as a woman of remarkable virtues and expressed confidence that her family and loved ones would continue to uphold the values she embodied.
The former CJN said he wished she had lived longer to witness more celebrations in her honour, but noted that death remains an inevitable part of life.
“We love you so much. Abiyamo tootọ,” he said.
Delivering a sermon titled “Celebrating the Life and Time of a Hero Maker,” Rev. Edward Alabi of Molete Baptist Church, Ibadan, described the deceased as a woman who lived a life of sacrifice.
Alabi said true achievement is measured not only by longevity but also by the positive impact and the sacrifices made for others, adding that the late Mrs Oladokun devoted herself to raising her children and left behind a legacy of faith and selflessness.
“Mama is a lover of peace. She loved the family and the church of God,” Rev. Alabi said, urging people to remember that life is a gift from God.
In his remarks, Chief Iyiola Oladokun described his mother as caring and selfless.
The former deputy recounted how she refused to abandon him when he was critically ill as a child, despite advice from others, saying: “My mother was everything to me. Her love, compassion and nurturing are second to none. I thank God that all good things in my life happened in her lifetime.”
