Tantita Ambassadors, a non-profit organisation committed to youth empowerment and inclusive development, has launched its flagship initiative, Kestin Cares, aimed at improving access to education and promoting the talents of physically challenged students.
The initiative, coordinated by Comrade Kelvin Djagbo, seeks to bridge educational gaps by providing learning materials to students with physical disabilities while creating opportunities to identify, nurture and showcase their talents.
As part of the official launch, members of the organisation visited Dom-Domingos College and Alderstown School in Warri, where they distributed books, school bags and other educational materials to physically challenged students.
The outreach also featured interactive sessions with students and school staff to assess learning needs and identify areas where the students’ talents could be developed.
Speaking during the exercise, Djagbo said the initiative was inspired by the belief that physical disabilities should not hinder access to quality education or opportunities for self-expression.
“Kestin Cares is born out of our belief that no physical challenge should limit a child’s right to quality education or self-expression. Today at Dom-Domingos College and Alderstown School, we didn’t just donate books and bags; we came to see, to listen, and to begin the work of identifying and promoting the talents these children carry. Disability is not inability,” he said.
According to him, the programme will focus on providing educational support materials such as books, school bags, writing aids and other specialised learning resources to enhance the academic participation of physically challenged students.
He added that the initiative would also collaborate with schools and caregivers to identify exceptional abilities among students before providing mentorship, training and opportunities to showcase their talents in order to boost confidence and promote inclusion.
Djagbo appealed to government agencies, corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to partner with Tantita Ambassadors in expanding the Kestin Cares initiative to more schools across Delta State and other parts of the country.
Tantita Ambassadors said its programmes are designed to promote education, inclusion, community development and capacity building for vulnerable and underserved groups.
