Babcock disowns fake academic certificates

Babcock University

Babcock University has alerted the public to the circulation of forged academic certificates falsely linked to the institution, warning that the documents are fraudulent and unauthorized.

In a public notice issued on June 29, 2026, the university said it had uncovered a fake “Honorary Certificate” allegedly awarded to an individual for attaining a “First Class Upper” distinction—an academic classification the institution says does not exist in its system.

The university clarified that it does not issue honorary certificates in recognition of undergraduate academic performance and that academic excellence is recognized only through official degree certificates and transcripts issued by the Office of the Registrar.

Babcock further emphasized that its recognized classification is First Class Honours, not “First Class Upper.

The institution urged employers, educational institutions, government agencies, professional bodies, and members of the public to disregard any unauthorized academic documents bearing its name outside its established academic processes.

It also warned that anyone involved in producing, distributing, presenting, or using forged academic credentials could face investigation, prosecution, and other legal consequences under applicable laws.

The university added that it is prepared to pursue both civil and criminal action against individuals or groups found misrepresenting its name, logo, seal, or academic credentials, while encouraging the public to verify any Babcock University certificate through the Office of the Registrar before relying on it for official purposes.
