APC-led Government lacks capacity to tackle insecurity in Nigeria -Dr. Biodun Ogundipe

Former Kebbi APC Chairman dies in Bandits’ captivity

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State for 2027 elections, Dr. Biodun Ogundipe, yesterday stressed that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government lacks the capacity to effectively address the growing insecurity across Nigeria.

Ogundipe stated this during a N20 Million Unemployed Graduates Convergence organised for youth in Ogun Central Senatorial District in Abeokuta, the state capital.

He said that addressing security challenges in the country goes beyond simply purchasing guns and other equipments, stressing that it was high time Tinubu led government brace up to the challenges of insecurity in the nation.

“You cannot give what you don’t have, the current government don’t have what it takes to provide security, if they do we will not be in the state we are today. I have built security solutions at multinational levels and I believe security is not about buying guns and others.” he noted.

The governorship candidate also bemoaned the issue of insecurity in Ogun State where farmers could no longer go to farm to cultivate their land for food production, as well as traders and other business owners could not move freely for their fear of being kidnapped.

He argued that strengthening security would boost commercial activities, encourage businesses to operate for longer hours and restore the confidence of investors and residents across the state.

“At the heart of anything you do for economic development is security. If farmers can go to the farm freely, they can produce food. Today, people are scared to transport their farm produce. In places like Imeko-Afon and Yewa North, many farmers are no longer going to their farms because of insecurity.” Ogundipe said.

The governship hopeful opined that as the governor, his administration would prioritize the use of Artificial Intelligence(AI) to drive economic recovery and job creation if elected in 2027, insisting that he would resign if he failed to create jobs for indigenous graduates within two years in office.

“Look, I am saying this to the people that within two years if as a graduate of Ogun State indigene and you don’t have a job I will resign. As a governor of of this state no graduate will be looking for job and I won’t disappoint you” he added.
