The vice-chancellor paid glowing tribute to the late educationist and social critic, Dr Taiwo Solarin, whose ideals inspired the establishment of the university, describing him as a symbol of resilience, integrity and unwavering commitment to education and national development.
According to Oladipo, the institution established in 2005 and was recently transitioned into a Federal University in 2025, has demonstrated resilience and is well positioned for greater achievements.
The Professor of Social and Applied Psychology added that the administration’s development agenda would be driven by the S.T.A.R.-W.I.N. strategic framework, which focuses on Sustainable Funding and Smart Governance; Technology and Digital Campus; Academic Excellence and Innovation; Research Productivity and Global Ranking; Welfare and Wellbeing; Infrastructural Development; and National Alumni and International Relations.
“Our bold yet attainable vision is to position TASFUED among Nigeria’s top 25 universities and within the top 3,000 globally by 2031,” Oladipo declared.
He explained that the target would be pursued through sustained investment in academic quality, impactful research, digital transformation, inclusive infrastructure, and institutional integrity.
The vice-chancellor identified financial sustainability as a major priority, saying the university would diversify its revenue base through innovative funding mechanisms, stronger commercial ventures, expanded professional programmes, and increased international collaborations.
He further pledged to transform the institution into a fully digital campus through improved internet connectivity, deployment of smart classrooms, and enhanced digital capacity for staff and students to improve teaching, learning, and administrative efficiency.
On academic development, Oladipo promised comprehensive curriculum reviews, expansion of academic programmes, pursuit of international accreditation, and the creation of a vibrant research ecosystem capable of attracting global recognition.
He assured staff and students that welfare would remain central to his administration, with renewed emphasis on improved infrastructure, accommodation, transportation, healthcare, and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
The vice-chancellor also outlined plans to expand physical infrastructure through the construction of modern facilities, upgrading of laboratories, and provision of accessible learning spaces.
He stressed the need for stronger engagement with industry, alumni, host communities, and international partners to enhance the university’s global visibility and contribution to national development.
Calling for collective commitment, Oladipo urged members of the university community to work together in actualising the institution’s vision.
“This vision calls for deliberate, accountable, and transformational leadership. I invite every member of our community—staff, students, alumni, partners, and stakeholders—to join hands in realising the immense potential of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education,” he said.
He expressed optimism that, through shared commitment, innovation and adherence to the enduring values exemplified by the late Taiwo Solarin, the university would emerge as a leading institution for teacher education, research and societal development in Nigeria and beyond.
