Airline CEO canvasses government, private sector collaboration for aviation growth

Federal Government Of Nigeria (FG)

The Managing Director of Aero Contractors, Ado Sanusi, has called for stronger collaboration between the Federal government and private sector operators.

Sanusi stated that such partnerships were important to accelerating the growth of Nigeria’s aviation industry and driving national economic development.

Sanusi made the call when the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination and Head of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), Hajia Hadiza Usman, paid a working visit to Aero Contractors’ facilities, including its Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre.

During the visit, Usman toured the airline’s MRO facility, where she interacted with management and engineering personnel while seeking to understand how government policies could better support private investments in the aviation sector.

Speaking after the visit, Sanusi described the engagement as encouraging, noting that direct interaction between policymakers and industry players would help create a more enabling environment for business growth.

According to him, Usman’s keen interest in the challenges and opportunities within the aviation industry demonstrated her commitment to improving government policies that would enhance sectoral performance.

He said: “It was an honour to welcome Hadiza Bala Usman to Aero Contractors. I had the pleasure of taking her on a tour of our operations, particularly our MRO centre, which continues to position Aero Contractors as a strategic aviation asset capable of supporting operators across West and Central Africa.

“What impressed me most was not only her genuine curiosity and the depth of her questions, but her sincere interest in how government can better support the growth of our aviation industry.

“Though not an aviator by background, her command of policy, performance and institutional development was evident throughout, reflecting the results-driven mandate she leads at the CRDCU.”

The Aero Contractors boss stressed that meaningful engagement between public officials and private sector operators would foster practical solutions capable of boosting investment, improving service delivery and strengthening the industry’s contribution to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

He expressed optimism about the future of the aviation sector, describing Usman as a dedicated public servant committed to delivering measurable results.
Aero Contractors, in a statement, said the visit also provided an opportunity to showcase its engineering capabilities and ongoing commitment to advancing the aviation industry through innovation, technical excellence and collaboration.

According to him, Usman expressed satisfaction with the modern equipment and highly skilled workforce at the MRO facility, which had continued to provide maintenance support to airlines within Nigeria and across the West and Central African region.

He pointed out that the facility had built decades of engineering expertise while maintaining internationally recognised standards that have strengthened aircraft maintenance capacity on the continent.
