A legal practitioner and accomplished administrator, Babatunde Kwame Ogala, has urged Nigerians to imbibe Rotary’s four-way test for inclusive, accountable and sustainable democracy.
Ogala, who spoke during the installation of Layi Abidoye as the third District Governor of Rotary International District 9112 in Lagos, at the weekend, listed the four-way tests to include “Is it the truth?” “Is it fair to all concerned?”
“Will it build goodwill and better friendships” and “Will it be beneficial to all concerned?”
He said that every club in the District could be encouraged on partisan review in their communities and the District should also consider institutional channels on matters of fairness in governance.
In his acceptance speech, Abidoye said: “Making a difference is a commitment that I have made and with your unflinching support and God being on my side, we will make lasting impact in the world, in our communities and in ourselves.”
He outlined some projects that would be embarked upon during his tenure to include Rotary District 9112 Eye Hospital, Agboyi Ketu and Imota General Hospital, renovation and remodelling of conveniences at SEA School in Apapa, donation of five ultra sound machines to Mother & Child Hospital, enhancing fire preparedness and emergency response, football competition among community youths in Lagos State for three local councils, e-learning facility and teacher training in five secondary schools.
On his part, President, Rotary International 2026-2027, Olayinka Babalola, urged the new District Governor to leave the club better than he met it to create a lasting impact.
“For everything that we do, let us ask ourselves the impact it will create. It is not enough to deliver an outcome, change is just the beginning and impact is what endures,” he said.
