The Women in Leadership Advancement Network (WILAN) has launched the WILAN Leadership Suite, an integrated digital ecosystem designed to support women at different stages of their leadership journey while promoting broader civic participation across Nigeria.

The initiative comes as women remain significantly underrepresented in Nigeria’s political decision-making, with women occupying about 4.5 per cent of seats in the National Assembly, while 15 State Houses of Assembly have no female representation.

However, WILAN noted that women have continued to lead businesses, organisations, communities and institutions across the country. According to the organisation, the initiative brings together digital platforms that provide leadership development, mentorship, career advancement, civic participation and digital safety.

It explained that the platforms are designed to remove barriers to women’s leadership and create more opportunities for women to lead, influence decisions and contribute to shaping Nigeria’s future.

The launch was accompanied by an online media campaign tagged “What’s Your Move?”, which encourages Nigerians to take deliberate steps towards inclusive leadership. WILAN said each “move” within the campaign connects users to opportunities available through the Leadership Suite.

According to the group, the suite currently consists of three active platforms, including MyDreamGov, a civic participation platform that enables Nigerians to discover women leaders, understand how government works, nominate women leaders, build their dream team and participate in civic conversations aimed at encouraging informed engagement with governance.

WILAN said the Leadership Suite would be expanded in the coming months with the introduction of ZIMA, an AI-powered civic education and political leadership platform designed to help women deepen their understanding of governance and public leadership.

It also announced Nana, an AI-powered digital safety companion that helps women recognise, prevent and respond to technology-facilitated gender-based violence.

Founder of WILAN, Abosede George-Ogan, said women across Nigeria were already demonstrating leadership and making meaningful contributions in different sectors, but required greater recognition and support.
