APC diaspora groups rally support for Tinubu’s re-election in London

President Bola Tinubu

Support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid gathered momentum in the United Kingdom at the weekend as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) diaspora chapter, party stakeholders and members of the Nigerian community in London pledged to intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The rally, held in Uxbridge, London, was organised by the Office of the Special Adviser on Diaspora Coordination and Mobilisation to the APC National Chairman in collaboration with Women Leaders Support Advancement and the Tinubu Support Group.

The event attracted party leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, academics and women leaders from across the Nigerian diaspora, who reaffirmed their commitment to the APC and the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at the gathering, the Special Adviser on Diaspora Coordination and Mobilisation, Professor Tai Balofin, urged Nigerians living abroad to become more actively involved in grassroots political engagement and support President Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

Balofin said the Nigerian diaspora remained a critical constituency whose expertise, resources and influence could contribute significantly to advancing the administration’s development agenda and strengthening the party’s support base ahead of the next general election.

He emphasised that sustained engagement with Nigerians abroad would help consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda while encouraging greater participation in national development.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Honour to Professor Balofin by the UK Coordinator of the Tinubu Support Group, Otunba Jafaar Ibraimoh, in recognition of his contributions to diaspora engagement and mobilisation for the ruling party.

Responding to the recognition, Balofin dedicated the award to the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, commending his leadership and efforts to ensure that Nigerians in the diaspora remain actively involved in the affairs of the party.

He described Yilwatda as a leader committed to broadening participation within the APC and strengthening the relationship between the party and Nigerians living outside the country.

Women leaders at the event also reaffirmed their support for the APC and President Tinubu’s administration, pledging to mobilise more Nigerians in the diaspora in support of the party’s programmes.

The UK Coordinator of Women Leaders Support Advancement, Eta Iyalode Kemi Kalejaiye, said Nigerian women abroad were prepared to contribute meaningfully to national development and to support initiatives aimed at promoting good governance.

She noted that women remained an important force in political mobilisation and community development, adding that the organisation would continue to encourage greater participation by women in advancing the APC’s objectives.

Founder of Women Leaders Support Advancement, Hon. Deborah Honecker, described women as a powerful force for transformation when united across borders, stressing that collective action by women in the diaspora could make a significant contribution to Nigeria’s political and socio-economic development.

Participants at the event expressed optimism that sustained engagement with Nigerians living abroad would strengthen support for the APC while providing additional opportunities for investment, knowledge transfer and collaboration in support of national development.

The London gathering forms part of the APC’s ongoing diaspora mobilisation efforts aimed at expanding the party’s support base and reinforcing backing for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
