The Adamawa State Executive Council, yesterday approved contracts worth N2.748 billion for the construction of a perimeter fence, gate and gatehouse at Government Secondary School, Fufore, and the construction of 108 semi detached houses in Madagali pocal government council of the state.
The approvals were granted during the 11th Executive Council meeting of 2026, chaired by governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Briefing journalists, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, said the council considered and approved key projects aimed at enhancing security in public schools and supporting the resettlement of communities displaced by insurgency.
According to Leneke, the council approved the award of a N781.3 million contract for the construction of a perimeter fence, gate and gatehouse at Government Secondary School, Fufore.
He explained that the school, one of the state’s leading public secondary institutions, currently lacks a perimeter fence and gate, leaving students, teachers and other staff vulnerable to security threats. He noted that the project would provide a safer and more secure learning environment.
The commissioner also announced the approval of a N1.967 billion contract for the construction of 108 semi-detached houses in Madagali local government council.
He said the housing project is part of the state’s Return to Ancestral Home Pathway, a home-grown durable solutions initiative designed to facilitate the return and resettlement of people displaced by insurgency.
Leneke disclosed that the project, presented by the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Reintegration and Humanitarian Services, would be executed by 39 contractors across 54 lots to ensure quality delivery, effective supervision and timely completion.
He added that the housing scheme aligns with the Fintiri administration’s commitment to restoring normalcy in communities affected by years of insurgency, particularly in the northern part of the state.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to people centred development, Leneke said the administration would continue to invest in education, infrastructure and humanitarian interventions to strengthen security, improve public infrastructure and enhance the welfare of citizens across Adamawa State.
