Former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Dr. George Moghalu, has expressed condolences to former Rivers State Governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, over the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
In a statement he personally signed, Moghalu said he received news of her passing with deep sadness, describing her as a revered matriarch whose life embodied faith, humility, sacrifice, and compassion.
The former Labour Party governorship candidate in Anambra State said Dame Amaechi’s death marked the end of a long, purposeful, and fulfilled life, but noted that her legacy of love, selfless service, and devotion to God would continue to inspire future generations.
He recalled that she was the pillar of her family, promoting love, peace, and unity, while also serving as a respected community women leader and committed Christian whose faith remained unwavering throughout her lifetime.
According to Moghalu, Dame Amaechi was admired within and beyond her community for her kindness, generosity, warmth, and willingness to support others.
“Her exemplary life leaves behind a rich legacy of integrity, service, and enduring values that will continue to inspire generations,” he said.
Reflecting on the loss, Moghalu noted that although death is inevitable, the passing of a beloved mother creates an irreplaceable void for her children and loved ones.
He urged Amaechi and the entire family to find strength in the remarkable life she lived, the values she upheld, and the lasting impact she made on her family, community, and society.
Moghalu added that the memories of her noble life and enduring virtues would remain a source of comfort and inspiration.
“On behalf of my family, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, and all who mourn the passing of this remarkable woman.
“I pray that Almighty God grants you strength, comfort, and the grace to cherish the beautiful memories of a life well lived. May the gentle soul of Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi rest in perfect peace, and may perpetual light shine upon her,” he said.
