Super Eagles striker Rafiu Durosinmi has completed his transfer to KRC Genk of Belgium on a four-year contract.

Genk announced the signing of Durosinmi on Thursday via a statement released on its official website and social media platforms.

“KRC Genk strengthens its squad with 23-year-old Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi, who joins from Pisa SC,” the Belgian Jupiler Pro League club wrote.

“Rafiu Durosinmi is a Genk player. The deal is done. KRC Genk has secured its second summer transfer with Rafiu Durosinmi (23). The Nigerian centre forward joins from Italian club Pisa SC and signs a contract for four seasons at the Cegeka Arena, until the end of June 2030.”

With the arrival of Durosinmi, Genk said it believes it has brought in a profile that perfectly fits the club’s sporting ambitions.

A complete striker who combines strength, stature, and scoring ability, Genk believes he is someone who is immediately available and gives the Belgian club’s attacking line extra presence.

Durosinmi joins from Pisa but previously impressed at FC Viktoria Plzeň of Czech Republic, where he showed what he is capable of both in the domestic league and on the European stage.

In 86 matches, he scored 35 goals and provided 10 assists. In total, Durosinmi already has 150 professional matches under his belt from which he scored 54 goals and provided 17 assists.

Speaking about Durosinmi, Genk Head of Football, Dimitri de Condé, had nothing but praise for the Nigerian due to his qualities as a striker.

“Rafiu is a striker with qualities that align well with the way KRC Genk wants to play,” said de Condé. “He is good in the box and also strong on the ball in combination play.

“A typical number 9 to whom you can pass the ball. We were also looking for a profile that can make an immediate impact and that fits within our ambition to compete at the top again. Rafiu meets those requirements.”

Speaking, Durosinmi said that the club’s ambition, style of play, and the facilities where players can develop played an important role in his choice.

He added that Paul Onuachu, a teammate in the Nigerian national team, spoke with him about the club and helped convince him of the Genk story.

“I want to be important for the team from day one, score goals, and give everything in every match. I spoke with Paul about the club,” Durosinmi said.

“He told me many great things about Genk, the supporters, and the way the club works with players. I am proud to be a Genkie.”
