Organisers of NOG Energy Week said the 25th anniversary edition of the conference recorded more than $4.5 billion in signed deals, reinforcing the event’s role as a platform for partnership-driving investment and growth across Africa’s energy sector.
The conference, themed ‘Forging Africa’s Strategic Energy Growth Through Global Collaboration’, brought together government officials, regulators, local and international energy companies, investors, financiers and technology providers, translating discussions into investment commitments across the energy value chain.
According to the statement, gas and LNG accounted for the largest share of the deals at about 39 per cent, followed by upstream projects at 31 per cent and midstream at16 per cent. Others were engineering and technology (10 per cent) and downstream, which accounted for four per cent.
The deals underscored the growing focus on gas development as a driver of Africa’s energy transition.
The organisers said the agreements included a 15-year Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement between the NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy Joint Venture and UTM FLNG Limited to supply 200 million standard cubic feet of gas daily, positioning Nigeria’s first floating LNG project for a final investment decision (FDI) in the fourth quarter of 2026.
They added that ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria, alongside Chevron, TotalEnergies and Nexen, announced a $1 billion investment commitment for the Usan Infill Project, a deepwater development expected to add 40,000 barrels per day to Nigeria’s oil output.
NNPC Limited also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a gas sale and aggregation agreement with Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL) as well as a network entry agreement with Chevron Nigeria Limited, AGPC and NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL).
Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, had said: “What we are witnessing today is not just about signing agreements. It is about igniting the engine of Nigeria’s industrialisation.
“This year’s NOG Energy Week theme could not be timelier. The conversation around collaboration, investment and innovation remains central to unlocking Africa’s energy potential and delivering sustainable access for its people.”
