Olubadan lauds Tinubu over infrastructural projects in Oyo

Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as the Federal Government’s increasing investment in infrastructural projects across Ibadan and other parts of Oyo State.

The monarch gave the commendation while receiving a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Works on a courtesy visit to his palace at Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga, the Olubadan noted that ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects had demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in the state.

While applauding the intervention, Oba Ladoja urged the Federal Government to ensure that contractors adhere to high construction standards and use quality materials to guarantee the durability of roads across the country.

The paramount ruler also expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of many roads, attributing the problem to the activities of overloaded trucks and heavy-duty vehicles, as well as poor drainage systems along major highways.

He pledged the support of the traditional institution in mobilising residents through sustained public sensitisation campaigns to discourage the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage channels and waterways, which often contributes to flooding and road damage.

Earlier, the leader of the Federal Ministry of Works delegation, Mr Aina Kolawole, thanked the Olubadan and members of the Olubadan-in-Council for the warm reception accorded the team.

Kolawole said the visit was aimed at seeking the support of the traditional institution in creating an enabling environment for contractors and officials handling ongoing federal road projects in Oyo State.

He appealed to the monarch to encourage residents to refrain from encroaching on road setbacks and to desist from dumping refuse in waterways, stressing that such practices undermine infrastructure development and environmental sustainability.

Among those present during the visit were the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola; the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Kolawole Adegbola; the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; the Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Salawudeen Amidu Ajibade; the Ashipa Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Dauda Abiodun Azeez; and the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin.
