Champion’s H1 revenue hits N35.73 billion on EnjoyBev acquisition

Champion Breweries Plc has reported revenue of N35.73 billion in the first half of 2026, driven by its newly completed acquisition of an 80 per cent stake in Dutch beverage firm EnjoyBev B.V., even as higher finance costs tied to the deal cut into profit.

The unaudited results for the six months ending on 30 June 2026 showed second-quarter revenue of N21.37 billion, operating profit of N6.17 billion, and group profit after tax of N2.65 billion, of which N1.76 billion came in the second quarter alone.

The brewer said the period marked its transition from a single-country brewing company into a diversified beverage group, producing its first consolidated financial statements under IFRS 10 following the EnjoyBev deal.

To fund the acquisition, Champion also completed a capital-raising programme that lifted shareholders’ equity to N69.08 billion and pushed its free float to 25.72 per cent, keeping it compliant with NGX listing requirements.

Acting Managing Director, Rasheed Adebiyi, said the first half marks a defining chapter for the company, adding that while acquisition-related finance costs weighed on profitability, “our underlying business remains strong”.

The results position Champion to compete more broadly against larger rivals such as Nigerian Breweries and International Breweries.
