Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, has described the delivery of two surveillance aircraft by the state government as a major milestone in Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts to strengthen security, insisting that the development is the administration’s strongest response to critics.

Oyelade, in a statement on Wednesday, said the arrival of the aircraft underscored Governor Makinde’s commitment to protecting lives and property through strategic investments rather than political rhetoric.

According to him, the governor has remained focused on fulfilling his campaign promises despite sustained criticism from political opponents.

“Governor Seyi Makinde has never been distracted by the noise of political antagonists. His focus has always been on delivering good governance and fulfilling the promises he made to the people of Oyo State. The delivery of these two surveillance aircraft is a clear demonstration of responsible leadership and strategic investment in the security of our people,” he said.

The commissioner noted that although some critics had questioned the government’s commitment to security and dismissed the aircraft procurement plan, the administration remained resolute in implementing long-term measures to tackle security challenges.

He explained that the procurement process for the aircraft commenced about a year before the May 15 attack in Oriire Local Government Area, contrary to claims that the initiative was a reaction to the incident.

“There were those who claimed the government was not doing enough. There were those who said the procurement was a fluke. But the procurement plan was initiated well before the Oriire incident of May 15 this year,” he said.

Oyelade maintained that the Makinde administration had consistently demonstrated transparency, accountability and a commitment to projects with direct benefits for residents.

He urged the people of the state to disregard what he described as politically motivated misinformation and continue to support the government as it consolidates its achievements in security, infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.

“History will always remember leaders by their achievements, not by the volume of propaganda against them. Governor Seyi Makinde has continued to prove that performance remains the strongest response to criticism. The people of Oyo State can see the difference, and they know that this administration is committed to building a safer and more prosperous state for all,” Oyelade said.
