The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has received a fleet of operational vehicles from the German Federal Police in a major boost to its operational capacity, marking another milestone in the growing security and migration partnership between Nigeria and Germany.

The vehicles were officially handed over on Thursday during a visit by a delegation from the German Federal Police to the NIS Headquarters in Sauka, Abuja. Led by Mr. Neils Zimmermann, Head of Department 42, the delegation’s visit highlighted the deepening collaboration between both countries in strengthening border security and improving migration management.

Receiving the delegation, Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, described the donation as a reflection of the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Germany. She expressed appreciation to the German Government for the support, noting that the operational vehicles would significantly improve the Service’s mobility and enhance its ability to effectively discharge its statutory responsibilities across the country.

Nandap said the continued collaboration between both institutions demonstrates a shared commitment to building stronger border management systems and tackling emerging migration challenges through sustained international cooperation.

Speaking during the ceremony, Mr. Zimmermann reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Immigration Service through capacity-building initiatives and closer institutional collaboration. He expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to deliver meaningful results in addressing transnational migration and other cross-border security concerns.

The donation further strengthens the longstanding relationship between the Nigeria Immigration Service and the German Federal Police, with both organisations reaffirming their commitment to enhancing border security, improving operational efficiency, and promoting safe, orderly and regular migration.
