The President of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Pretty Okafor, has praised Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for his consistent humanitarian support to Nigerian entertainers facing serious health challenges.

In a personally signed letter, Okafor expressed profound appreciation for the governor’s timely financial interventions, describing him as a compassionate leader who has consistently demonstrated genuine concern for members of the country’s creative industry.

“I write with a heart full of gratitude to celebrate a leader whose compassion has become the standard for governance in our time,” Okafor said. “His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, Executive Governor of Abia State, has shown Nigerians and the world what it means to lead with both vision and heart, especially for the entertainment industry.”

According to the PMAN president, Governor Otti has repeatedly responded positively whenever the association sought assistance for entertainers battling life-threatening illnesses.

“Whenever PMAN reaches out to His Excellency through his Senior Special Adviser on Tourism and Entertainment, Hon. (Dr) Justice Martins aka J. Martins, he has never disappointed. He has answered not with promises but with actions.”

Okafor recalled the governor’s financial support for veteran musician Daddy Fresh during his battle with liver, kidney and eye complications. He also highlighted Otti’s intervention in assisting veteran Nollywood actor Sunny McDon, an Abia indigene, during his treatment for prostate cancer.

The PMAN chief further disclosed that the governor has once again responded to Association’s appeal by providing urgent support for veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu, who is currently battling a health relapse of her health condition.

He stated that Governor Otti’s consistent support distinguishes him as a leader who values the welfare of those who have contributed immensely to Nigeria’s cultural and creative landscape, especially those who gave their talent to make the country proud.

“Rather than turn his back on the plight of artistes, as many influential people often do, Governor Otti has consistently stood by them in their most difficult moments. He has proven that leadership is not just about infrastructure and policy, but about humanity – about saving lives, preserving legacies,” he said.

Describing Otti as one of the entertainment industry’s strongest allies, Okafor said the governor’s generosity has earned him the admiration of creatives across the country.

“Governor Otti, you are not just the Executive Governor of Abia State, you are without doubt the leading and most compassionate governor of our time in support of the Nigerian entertainment industry. PMAN and the entire creative family across Nigeria say ‘thank you’.

“Your kindness will not be forgotten. Your name will be written in gold in the history of Nigerian entertainment. We pray that God continues to strengthen you, grant you wisdom, and bless the good people of Abia State through your administration,” the letter further read.
