That ‘Ondo’ Policeman…
If a police officer allows ethnicity to influence his actions in law enforcement, that amounts to a total betrayal of the uniform and the oath he swore to uphold.

That was exactly what that police officer captured on a secret camera somewhere in Ondo state last week did. He betrayed everything he swore to when he joined the police force and such an officer is not only a danger to himself, he is a grave danger to the society he is supposed to be protecting .

The most disturbing part of that viral police video isn’t even the alleged demand for a bribe, it was the ethnic bias he dropped in the middle of the interaction with his intended victim.

“If you were Igbo, I would have packed you.” Really? What did an Igbo person do to him that he has decided to profile an entire ethnic nationality? That offensive comment raises a serious question: Should a Nigerian’s tribe determine how they are treated by law enforcement?

Whether you’re Igbo, Urhobo, Fulani, Ibibio, Yoruba, Hausa, Ijaw, Tiv, or from any other ethnic group, the law is supposed to protect everyone equally and without bias to tribe or ethnicity. But not for that ‘Ondo’ policeman. T4T is convinced that Igbo people must have offended his ancestors and he was sent on a tribal errand to avenge the ‘crime’ on any Igbo of this generation.

He is not the only policeman into this ethnic or sex profiling. A policeman acquaintance once told T4T some years ago that he knows a criminal when he sees one. T4T was curious to find out how. What he said should even shock the IG of police. He said any young man with dreadlocks and shredded Jean pants and earrings is 99.9 per cent a ‘Yahoo Boy’. T4T asked him what if the young man was an upcoming rap or Afrobeats singer who just wants to look the part? T4T also told him about an incident in Europe where he saw a young bank teller with dreadlocks and earrings. All he said was “dat na Europe na”.

One can only imagine what so many innocent young men who just want to look like the Americans they see on TV have seen in the hands of that T4T’s police ‘friend’. One can also imagine what so many innocent Igbo people have seen in the
hands of this ‘Ondo’ policeman on the highway.

Well, the good news is, the no nonsense IG of Police, Tunji Disu, has ordered the arrest of the entire police team on the roadblock that day. But T4T has a suggestion for Mr. Disu. Before appropriate disciplinary action would be meted out on the erring policeman, he should first be sent to a good shrink at the National Hospital, Abuja for thorough evaluation and analysis to ascertain what really is wrong with him. He is not okay and such a man should not be with a firearm in the middle of nowhere. Thereafter, he should be redeployed to force headquarters where he will be made to push files from one floor to the other till he retires. Sacking him from the force will bring untold and unwarranted hardship on his family and dependants, especially in this very not so pleasant economic period in our national life.

Again, K1 De Ultimate Stirs Hornets Nest
FUJI music star, Wasiu Ayinde aka K1 de Ultimate caused a stir recently when he consciously (his band boy had come out to say it was ‘unconsciously’) declared in the middle of performance that any woman who thinks she can entrap a man with a pregnancy he did not want, just gave birth to a ‘sara’ (gift) child.

Both on and offline caught fire, the flame which has refused to burn out over a week after. The music star, T4T found out, is embroiled in another child controversy as a new woman is currently claiming he is the father of her child. K1 de Ultimate, just like an epilepsy sufferer who is not a stranger to the world beyond, is not new to controversies like that. The latest may just be number 10 if not more, and he always comes out the victor. How he does it, should be studied as a course in Oxford or better still, in one of our top local universities here. So, his fans and critics said he made that rather insensitive statement because of the new female accuser.

T4T is not going to judge K1 here. He is handsome, he is very rich and a big celebrity who plays in the billionaires and top political circle, so, if he does not want, women will naturally throw themselves at him even as he is in his mid 60s, and who nor like “free tin”? So, tell T4T why a character like K1 won’t publicly boast about such an embarrassing thing when in the crowd that day, there are over 10 women fantasizing about following him home to one of his many palatial homes after the show?

Maybe in T4T’s next life, he will be like K1, maybe o.
