• Unveils APM campaign council
Oyo State government has inaugurated an eight-member Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the abduction of students and teachers in Esiele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Council.
The commission, inaugurated by Governor Seyi Makinde, is chaired by retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Prof. Mojeed Owoade.
Other members are Professor Jibril Ibrahim, Mrs. Ayo Obe, retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Ngozi Onadeko; Dr. Abimbola Orogade, retired Major General Sanusi Nasir Muazu, a former General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army; and Mr. Folorunsho Osunrayi. Mrs. Olamide Sandra Tella will serve as Secretary of the commission.
Speaking during the inauguration, Makinde commended the members for accepting what he described as a national assignment, expressing confidence in their ability to carry out the responsibility with diligence.
The commission is expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the abduction of the students and teachers in the affected communities and make recommendations to the government.
Meanwhile, Makinde has inaugurated the party’s apex campaign council in the state, charging members to build an inclusive structure capable of mobilising stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the inauguration held at the Conference Room of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Friday, the governor urged members of the council to immediately engage leaders and supporters of the party across the state to ensure seamless integration of existing structures.
He said the success of the campaign would depend on unity, collaboration and the ability of party leaders to accommodate all stakeholders within the APM fold.
According to him, the campaign council must work towards building an all-inclusive platform that would strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and position it for success in the 2027 polls.
The governor named the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Nureni Adeniran, as Chairman of the council. Adeniran will also serve as the Oyo State Coordinator of the APM 2027 Presidential Campaign and Director-General of the Oyo State Governorship Campaign.
Other members of the council include former Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Saheed Arowosaye (Arosad), as Deputy State Coordinator; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Demola Ojo, as Deputy Director-General for Oyo South Senatorial District; Dr. Femi Ojo and Alhaji Siju Lawal as Deputy Directors-General for Oyo Central and Oyo North Senatorial Districts respectively.
Also appointed were Ramata Agberemi Dabo as Director of the Women’s Wing and former Special Assistant (Youth) to the governor, Kazeem Bolarinwa, as Director of the Youth Wing.
Makinde directed members of the council to begin consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state without delay, stressing that the campaign structure must reflect broad participation and collective ownership.
