The Senior Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Diaspora Matters, Hon. Funmi Arulogun, has stepped down from her position, citing personal and political considerations for her decision.

Arulogun, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ibadan South East Local Government, formally communicated her resignation in a letter addressed to the Governor’s Chief of Staff.

Her departure comes at a time when several political figures and government appointees have been leaving the Makinde administration as political alignments begin to shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Announcing her resignation, Arulogun wrote:

“I hereby resign my appointment as the Senior Special Assistant SSA on Diaspora Matters with immediate effect.”
She also expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for the opportunity to serve in his administration, saying:

“I thank Your Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde FNSE, for giving me the opportunity to work in your government. I return all glory to the Almighty God for giving me the grace to serve the people of Oyo State for the past few years.”
Explaining the motivation behind her resignation, she stated:

“In the interest of our dear Nation: In the interest of our beloved state, Oyo State: In the interest of my followers; And for the love of me.”

She also extended appreciation to her political allies, supporters, family members, friends, and followers for their support throughout her time in office.
Although Arulogun did not disclose her next political move, her resignation is expected to fuel further speculation about the evolving political landscape in Oyo State as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
