The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has assured customers and stakeholders that its operations remain unaffected by the fire incident that damaged parts of its headquarters over the weekend.
In a statement yesterday from the FMBN Group Head, Corporate Communications, Joe Abuku, the bank said that the fire, which broke out on the second floor of its head office building on Saturday night, was swiftly contained.
Though it disclosed that office furniture, equipment and appliances in the affected area were damaged, Abuku said the fire was successfully contained and prevented from spreading to other parts of the building.
Moreover, “we are grateful to report that official documents that were affected are securely backed up electronically with cloud storage. Investigations and evaluations to establish the cause of the fire are still ongoing,” the statement read.
Nevertheless, Abuku said the bank has put measures in place to ensure that normal operations continue without significant disruption. The bank further commended the Federal Fire Service and the police, members of staff and other stakeholders who coordinated the prompt intervention that helped bring the situation under control.
