Makinde appoints rector, principal officers for Ibadan Poly

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the appointment of Dr. Lasisi Taiwo Abideen as the substantive Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

Also appointed are Dr. Olajide Taiwo Sherifat as Registrar, Mr. Adegbola Abiodun Kolawole as Bursar, and Mr. Osunrinade Olukunle Akinbola as the institution’s Librarian.

The appointments were conveyed in an approval letter signed by the governor and announced in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, who disclosed the appointments, said the selection process followed due process and extant regulations governing the appointment of principal officers in state-owned tertiary institutions.

According to him, the process commenced with the advertisement of the vacancies in national newspapers, after which qualified candidates were screened and interviewed by the Governing Council of the institution, chaired by Professor Lanre Nassar.

He said the appointments take effect from July 31, 2026, and are for a single tenure of five years.

The commissioner congratulated the newly appointed principal officers and urged them to provide visionary leadership that would further strengthen academic excellence, institutional stability and the continued growth of the institution.

The appointments bring to an end a prolonged period during which the institution’s principal offices had been occupied in acting capacities.
