The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a middle-aged man whose lifeless body was discovered on the Obiri-Ikwerre Flyover in Port Harcourt.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe, confirmed the incident, saying the body was found on Saturday and has since been evacuated to a mortuary for preservation and further investigation.

Agabe said detectives are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and identify those responsible.

She disclosed that the identity of the deceased remains unknown, as no family member or relative has come forward to claim the body.

The police spokesperson, however, appealed to members of the public with useful information that could assist in identifying the deceased or aid the ongoing investigation to report to the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, the Command has confirmed the arrest of a 27-year-old suspected member of a “one chance” robbery syndicate operating in Port Harcourt.

According to Agabe, the suspect, identified as Frank Kingsley, was arrested on Sunday night around the Air Force Flyover during a police operation.

She said preliminary investigations indicate that Kingsley is a member of a criminal syndicate involved in “one chance” robberies within the city.

The suspect, she added, has made useful confessional statements that are assisting investigators, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang and recover additional stolen items.

Agabe assured that the suspect would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Rivers State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
