The Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces (REMENAF), in collaboration with the Coalition of Concerned Veterans (CCV), has appointed retired Nigerian Army officer, Comrade Ambassador (Dr.) Oamien Roy Okhidievbie, as its International Secretary and Head of Diaspora Affairs, a move aimed at strengthening engagement with military veterans living outside Nigeria.

The appointment, announced on August 6, was approved by the REMENAF National Coordinator and the leadership of the Coalition of Concerned Veterans following what the organisations described as Dr. Okhidievbie’s outstanding record of military service, leadership and commitment to the welfare of veterans both in Nigeria and across the diaspora.

According to the organisations, the new appointment also designates Dr. Okhidievbie as Director of Diaspora Communication for the Coalition of Concerned Veterans, placing him at the forefront of efforts to improve communication and collaboration with veteran communities around the world.

A native of Edo State, Dr. Okhidievbie enlisted in the Nigerian Army in June 1990 and served for 14 years before voluntarily retiring on September 30, 2004. During his military career, he was posted to the 21 Engineers Support Regiment at Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna, and later to the 45 Division Engineers in Lagos, where he earned recognition for professionalism and dedication to duty.

Following his retirement from military service, he pursued higher education and professional development in several disciplines, including Business Administration, Marketing, Security Operations Management, International Relations and Politics, and Human Rights. He is currently completing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Business Management and Leadership, with academic training obtained from institutions in Nigeria, Switzerland, and the United States.

Over the years, Dr. Okhidievbie has built a reputation as a security consultant, leadership trainer and capacity development expert. He has facilitated training programmes for a wide range of public and private institutions, including the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information, the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, the Nigerian Railway Corporation and several other organisations.

He is also a Fellow and member of several professional bodies in Nigeria and abroad, including the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS-USA), the International Institute of Professional Security, the Institute of Security Nigeria, the Institute of Mediators and Conciliators, and the International Facility Management Association.

Beyond his professional engagements, Dr. Okhidievbie is actively involved in humanitarian and community development initiatives. He serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ChrisHerm International Limited, Principal Editor of The Veteran Voice Magazine, Chief Operating Officer of Wise Heart Solutions Foundation, and Co-founder of August Eye Group Limited. He is also recognised for providing free security support and advisory services to orphanages, schools and places of worship.

His contributions to security administration, leadership, human capital development, humanitarian service and peace advocacy have earned him numerous honours from organisations, including the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information, the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Rotary International, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and several international bodies.

Congratulating the new International Secretary, REMENAF National Coordinator and Secretary of the Coalition of Concerned Veterans, Veterans Commander Abiodun Durowaiye-Herberts, conveyed the goodwill of the President of the Coalition of Concerned Veterans, Air Commodore Femi Oguntuyi (Rtd.), mni, and the Chairman of the REMENAF Foundation Board of Trustees.

He expressed confidence that Dr. Okhidievbie’s extensive military background, security expertise, administrative experience and international exposure would strengthen veterans’ engagement across the diaspora while advancing the objectives of REMENAF and the Coalition of Concerned Veterans.
