Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, joined his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, at a campaign rally in the state, where the pair shared a lively dance on stage.
Davido arrived in Osun on Thursday, August 6, as political activities intensified ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The singer has been actively campaigning for his uncle, who is seeking a second term as governor.
A video from the rally showed Davido making his way through a large crowd alongside the governor’s son, Sina Adeleke, popularly known as Shina Rambo. The two eventually climbed over the barricade to join Governor Adeleke on the campaign stage.
Dressed in a traditional jalabiya, Davido appeared to struggle briefly while getting over the railing before supporters helped him onto the stage. Shina Rambo was also assisted as he made his way up.
Once on stage, Davido embraced his uncle before the governor began dancing and singing along to his nephew’s hit song, “Feel,” from his Grammy-nominated album, Timeless.
The governor’s familiar dance moves drew cheers from supporters, with Davido joining him as the two danced together in front of the crowd. The moment quickly became one of the highlights of the rally, with the family display adding a more personal touch to the campaign event.
Davido has taken an active role in his uncle’s re-election campaign in recent months. In May, he announced that he would put his music career on hold for two months to focus on campaigning for Governor Adeleke.
He was subsequently named chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team and has participated in several grassroots engagements across the state.
During one of his earlier campaign appearances, Davido told supporters that he believed his uncle had performed well and deserved another term in office. He has also met with commercial motorcycle and tricycle riders as part of efforts to mobilise young voters.
Governor Adeleke, who became governor of Osun State in 2022, is seeking to retain his position in the August 15 election. With the campaign entering its final days, Davido’s presence has continued to attract attention, particularly among young supporters. His latest appearance in Osun combined his role as a celebrity campaigner with a more relaxed family moment as he danced alongside the governor.
