The Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) Movement in Enugu State has raised concerns over what it described as attempts to create confusion and destabilise the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), urging party members and supporters to remain united and rely on communications from recognised leadership structures.

In a statement issued in Enugu, by the movement’s Chief Press Secretary, Ani Ifeanyi Moses, the Movement said it was concerned about activities allegedly aimed at creating a “non-existent faction” within the NDC through unauthorised claims of leadership and what it described as misinformation.

The movement maintained that such activities could deepen divisions within the party and distract members from the broader political objectives associated with the 2027 elections.

The statement specifically called on Dr. Johnpaul Ani and Dr. Sabestine Chukwuebuka Okafor to desist from actions capable of distablising the party in the state.

“It’s intentional to create division and confusion knowing that Enugu is the support base of Mr. Peter Obi and we must resist it.

“Such actions are unacceptable, undermine democratic principles, and must cease immediately,” the statement said.

The OK Movement urged the individuals to allow the party’s internal mechanisms and legal processes to take their course, while encouraging political actors to uphold constitutional democracy and the rule of law.

The movement also referred to a legal action instituted against the party by Johnpaul group which the court has since July struck out the case

According to the statement, the development means that continued reliance on the case to justify what it described as parallel structures or alternative leadership claims would have no legitimate basis.

The OK Movement’s position comes amid reported impersonation of Johnpaul Ani and team who have been claiming leadership of the party in the state

The movement further warned against what it described as attempts to use young Nigerians as instruments of political conflict, arguing that personal or short-term interests should not take precedence over broader democratic objectives.

It called on NDC members and supporters of the Obi–Kwankwaso movement to remain “calm, united, vigilant and resolute” and to disregard unauthorised directives.

The statement also advised members to verify political information through recognised party leadership and official communication channels before acting on it.

The Enugu OK Movement linked the dispute to the broader political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections, describing the New Nigeria project as bigger than individual ambitions or political positions.

It said the movement would continue to advocate democratic values, accountability and good governance while mobilising support for what it described as a competent and people-centred government in 2027.

The statement concluded with a call for unity among members, warning that internal divisions could distract from the political objectives of the movement and its supporters.
