The Adamawa state police command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, for allegedly killing his biological father and dumping the body in a well in Sangere, Gombi local government council of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer,  Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Yola.

According to the statement, the suspect was arrested following a report received by operatives of the command. Preliminary investigation indicates that Sinamai allegedly killed his father before disposing of the corpse in a well within their community.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Kabiru Umar Hassan, has directed a discreet and comprehensive investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.

The police said the victim’s body has been recovered from the well and deposited at a mortuary for an autopsy.

The statement added that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served.

He also urged residents to embrace lawful and peaceful means of resolving family disputes and to seek appropriate intervention whenever conflicts arise.

The police said further developments on the case would be communicated as the investigation progresses.
