The member representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives narrowly escaped death at the weekend following the involvement of his vehicle in a severe road accident along the busy Ore–Ondo Road.
The accident occurred when the federal lawmaker, who recently secured a return ticket to the National Assembly, was traveling to Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Council Area for a scheduled political engagement.
According to sources, the accident was caused when a commercial bus maneuvered dangerously on the busy highway and thereafter collided with the lawmaker’s vehicle.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the commercial bus driver, who attempted a dangerous overtaking, lost control and slammed into Ojogo’s car, triggering a multi-vehicle crash.
While the lawmaker emerged from the wreckage unhurt, some persons in the entourage of the lawmaker sustained varying degrees of trauma and were swiftly rushed to a nearby medical facility where they are currently receiving care.
Reacting to the harrowing experience, Ojogo expressed gratitude for what he described as divine intervention, acknowledging that the outcome could have been far more devastating.
He laid the blame at the feet of the commercial bus driver, accusing him of gross recklessness and impatience on the highway.
According to him, “God took perfect control of the situation and prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident.”
