Perturbed by the alleged violence, arrest and intimidation of some members of Accord, the Osun State First Lady, Mrs Titilola Adeleke, on Monday, in Osogbo led a protest to demand for a peaceful atmosphere capable of enabling free, fair and credible governorship election on Saturday.

Accompanied by the some sizable number of women, including the state Commissioner of Women Affairs, Ayobola Awolowo and Special Adviser on Market to the Governor, Mrs Eniola Omotosho, the protesters marched from Laro Grammar School, to Lameco before moving to the headquarters of the state Police Command, in Osogbo

Addressing the Commissioner of Police (CP) Election, Samuel Etaifo, Adeleke implored the Police to question the lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, Honourable Wole Oke, Kehinde Raji over alleged cases of violence in some parts of the state.

Adeleke argued that “We are demanding a free and fair election in the forthcoming poll. We want peace; let there be peace, please invite Fadahunsi, Wole Oke and Kehinde Raji.

“Invite them for questioning to stop killing out husband and children. Make them sign an undertaking. From what we heard, we learnt that they will start picking our leaders up this week.

“Last week Friday, they picked up the Commissioner for Environment. He was brought here, stripped naked; this is not good enough. They should leave our people alone.

Responding, the CP Election, Etaifo, noted that the heightened tension in Osun had subsided since his assumption of duties, assuring that their demands would be addressed.

While explaining that he decided to tolerate the protesters because of their gender. If you notice that since I came we have relative peace in the state but the problem we have is that we cannot continue to tolerate what you have done today because it will not contribute to peace, it will cause tension again.

“Let us assume that you come out now and the other party comes out, then both of you meet, what will happen?. We are going to go back and restrategise to attend to all your demands.

“Why I am discussing with you is because we don’t want tension before the election, we want peace, we cannot conduct election in an insecure environment. I have the mandate from the IG to come to the state to stabilize things, give an enabling environment for every political actor to exercise their franchise, to create public confidence for everyone to come out to vote on election day.

“If you are a manipulator of any election, that is even the worst, the IG and Nigeria will not forgive you, I will arrest you and take you to Abuja because this election is a federal election we must get it right, “he remarked.
