The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Patrick Daor, on Monday said under his leadership every Edo resident would be respected by the police under the Command.

Doar spoke when the former CP, now Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Monday Agbonika, officially handed over the Command to him at the Headquarters, Benin.

The CP, while promising to intensify the Command’s crime-fighting approach by “fine-tuning them,” also assured to “build on the successes that have been recorded by the outgone CP, now AIG.”

He added: “More importantly, I will ensure that every policeman has respect for every citizen of this state. We will work towards winning more of the trust of the good people of this state. And we will maintain a very open-door policy.

“Everyone is welcome to contribute. I’m sure you are aware of the popular saying that policing is not just for the police alone. It’s for every one of us. Wherever there are issues that you think I should be informed of, please don’t hesitate. Let me know. And that issue will be handled with the utmost professionalism.”

The new CP said under his watch, the Edo State Command would be “highly mobile.”

“A command that is always moving. You know, addressing every issue that has to do with the good people of those states,” he added.

Earlier, during the official handover, the former CP, now AIG, Monday Agbonika, said under his leadership, crime was brought to a minimum, just as he thanked personnel of the Command, spiritual leaders and the Edo State government for the support given to him during his tenure as CP.
