The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has installed four new Mogajis, charging them to uphold the integrity and cultural values of Ibadanland and shun activities capable of tarnishing the image of the traditional institution.

Oba Ladoja gave the charge on Monday during the installation ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

The Olubadan, who spoke through the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, congratulated the newly installed Mogajis and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with integrity and commitment to the development of their respective family compounds.

He warned the traditional rulers against involvement in nefarious activities, including land grabbing, hatred, vendetta, drug abuse and corruption, stressing that they would be held responsible for criminal acts committed within their domains.

The monarch said the new Mogajis were representatives of the Olubadan institution and should therefore conduct themselves in ways that would promote the dignity and development of Ibadanland.

“You are my ambassadors wherever you are. Consequently, you should key into my vision of taking Ibadanland to a greater height,” he said.

Ladoja also urged traditional rulers across Ibadanland to preserve and promote the traditional and cultural values of the city.

He said the primary responsibility of every properly installed or coronated traditional ruler was to uphold, preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the people.

The newly installed Mogajis are Olusegun Emmanuel Ogunyemi of Ogunwelu Compound, Oke-Adu, Ibadan North-East; Akeem Olalekan Alade of Oju-Abere Compound, Inalende, Ibadan North-West; Aderinto Adesoji of Sangodeyi Ikuola Compound, Idi-Arere, Ibadan South-West; and Adewale Idowu Akanmu Abonde of Abonde Compound, Ibadan North-East Local Government Area.

The installation ceremony was attended by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Eddy Oyewole; Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Kolawole Adegbola; Ashipa of Ibadanland, Oba Salawudeen Amidu Ajibade; Ashipa Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Dauda Abiodun Azees; Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin; and Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli.

Representatives of the Iyalode Line, Mogajis, Baales and other traditional stakeholders also attended the ceremony.
