The Zamfara State High Court, Gusau, has granted an interlocutory injunction freezing N1.45 billion in disputed funds involving Samson Davies and another applicant against Jackson Ukuevo and others.
The others besides Ukuevo are Ronchess Group Plc and Zenith Bank as second and third respondents respectively.
The order, made by Justice Mukhtar Yushau on May 6, 2026, restrained the third respondent, its agents, officers, servants, privies and assigns from releasing, transferring or otherwise dealing with N1,450,287,277.96 or any part of the sum standing to the credit of the first and second respondents.
The restriction will remain in force pending the hearing and final determination of the suit marked ZMS/GS/3/2025 before the court.
The court also restrained the first and second respondents, as well as their directors, shareholders, officers, affiliates, servants, agents, privies and assigns, from tampering with, transferring, withdrawing, debiting, dissipating or otherwise dealing with the funds in their accounts held in the custody of the third respondent.
However, Justice Yushau clarified that the injunction does not affect any funds belonging to the first and second respondents beyond the N1.45 billion identified as the subject matter of the suit.
The court stated that such additional funds could be lawfully utilised by the defendants as they deemed fit.
It further ordered the first and second defendants to refund and restore to their original state any money or funds that may have been disposed of, dissipated or transferred during the pendency of the substantive suit to an affiliate company’s account domiciled with the third respondent.
The court consequently held that the applicants’ application had succeeded.
The legal team was led by Julius Anthony, assisted by Jamilu Shafa, for the applicants; Bello Umar held the brief of Hayatuddeen Sulaiman, for the first and second respondents, while J.C. Eze held the brief of the third respondent.
The order was signed by Justice Mukhtar Yushau on May 6, 2026, while a Certified True Copy was issued by Abubakar Ibrahim, Principal Registrar.
