The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, has reaffirmed her support for Nigeria Fashion Week 2026, highlighting the event’s potential to drive investment, entrepreneurship and economic growth within the country’s fashion ecosystem.

The minister gave the assurance during a meeting with a delegation from Legendary Gold Limited, organisers of Nigeria Fashion Week, and representatives of Qualitrend Group, the event’s official strategic partnerships, government relations, tourism and investment integration partner.

The delegation, led by Lexy Mojo-Eyes, Chief Executive Officer of Legendary Gold Limited, also included members of the organising committee.

Musawa said the Federal Government remained committed to developing Nigeria’s creative and cultural industries as key contributors to job creation, exports, business expansion and global competitiveness.

She noted that the creative economy, particularly the fashion sector, presents significant opportunities for women and young people through entrepreneurship, skills development and sustainable business ventures.

Speaking on the importance of the sector, Mojo-Eyes described fashion as a strategic economic industry that connects culture with commerce while supporting tourism, manufacturing, investment and enterprise development.

He said the fashion value chain, which includes garment production, textiles, leather, hair and beauty, provides opportunities for thousands of businesses and has the capacity to generate millions of jobs when properly supported.

The meeting also featured a strategic working session focused on strengthening cooperation among the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Legendary Gold Limited and Qualitrend Group ahead of Nigeria Fashion Week 2026.

The partnership is expected to enhance Nigeria’s position as a leading African fashion destination by attracting investors, expanding export opportunities, encouraging international partnerships and promoting tourism.

Organisers said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment between government and private-sector stakeholders to build a sustainable fashion economy capable of creating wealth, supporting enterprises and showcasing Nigerian creativity globally.

Nigeria Fashion Week 2026, scheduled for October 2 to 4 in Abuja, is expected to serve as a platform for industry connections, investment opportunities and the promotion of Nigeria’s growing creative economy.
