African Democratic Congress (ADC) has disclosed plans for the opposition coalition to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, while speaking on plans for 2027 and other national issues, said that discussions on building a broad opposition coalition ahead of next year’s presidential election remain open.

Abdullahi said that the ADC was convinced that only a robust and united opposition would have the political capacity to challenge Tinubu and the ruling party.

The ADC National Publicity Secretary, while emphasising that the ADC remained interested in bringing opposition groups and political interests together, said the coalition project had not been abandoned.

“We still have not given up the possibility. Don’t forget that we started this coalition building. And we still believe that the window has not closed for the possibility of building a coalition ahead of 2027 because we believe that the opposition stands a better chance if we are all working together,” he said.

The ADC Spokesman’s assertion followed the exit of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, from the earlier coalition arrangement.

MEANWHILE, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, yesterday, warned that it would be a great disservice for Nigerians to vote for another presidential candidate after enduring the programmes and policies of the Tinubu administration, only for another President to reverse them.

Abbas gave the charge in Abuja while addressing the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, urging the delegation to campaign for Tinubu’s second-term bid, citing his administration’s performance statistics.

The Speaker, while declaring that it will be easy to sell the APC candidate to Nigerians and secure well over 10 million votes for the President, stated that the re-election campaign will rest on facts and figures, showing how the Tinubu administration has made remarkable progress since taking over in 2023.

IN another development, the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has alleged that Tinubu is giving the rights of the North to the South-West without resistance because northern leaders have aligned with him.

Baba-Ahmed made the claim in an interview on Symfoni TV.

He said: “Tinubu is taking away what the North owned to the South-West because the North is not resisting. The North is not resisting because the people who should resist have capitulated.

“They are all in his camp now. So, who do you expect to tell Tinubu that what you are doing for the North is not good? There is hardly any day now that people are not being killed in the North.

“Out of the 32 governors who are in the APC, 18 of them are from the North. Only one governor, the Bauchi State governor, is not in the APC.”

The PRP chairman also blasted Tinubu for differing with the ‘true’ position of the Catholic Bishops when they had a meeting with him at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, stating that the President’s denial of the issues raised by the bishops, despite clear evidence, underscores his ineffectiveness as a leader.

He equally criticised Tinubu over his ‘poor’ performance, alleging a disconnect between the government and the people.
