…Lists classrooms, roads, boreholes, 500 empowerment beneficiaries  

 

 

The member representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Abang, has declared that his three-year performance in the 10th National Assembly in the last three years has “silenced critics” and proven his commitment to the people.

 

Abang, popularly known as “Mature”, made the declaration on Thursday while responding to criticisms trailing his representation. He said detractors were either being mischievous or deliberately ignoring the visible projects across the constituency.

 

The lawmaker insisted that his scorecard is visible in the 16 wards of Ikom and Boki and needs no social media validation.

 

“My scorecard after three years speaks volumes and my constituents can attest to it. Representation is about impact on the ground, not noise online,” he said.

 

According to him, the last three years have witnessed *massive infrastructural and human capital development never before recorded in the federal constituency.

 

Abang listed key projects executed within the period to include the construction of classroom blocks in several primary and secondary schools to address overcrowding.

 

He also cited the rehabilitation of rural roads to open up farming communities and ease evacuation of produce, as well as the provision of solar-powered boreholes to improve access to clean water in rural areas.

 

On youth employment, the lawmaker said he facilitated job opportunities for constituents in federal agencies and private institutions, in addition to attracting federal presence to the area.

 

A major highlight of his tenure, Abang said, has been direct empowerment.

 

“Over 500 constituents have benefitted from my empowerment programmes. This cuts across cash grants for small scale businesses, distribution of farming inputs to farmers, scholarships for students, and skills acquisition training for women,” he disclosed.

 

He noted that the goal was to reduce poverty and make youths and women self-reliant, stressing that the interventions were evenly spread across Ikom and Boki.

 

Reacting to online criticisms, Abang said such attacks were expected but would not distract him.

 

“Those slamming me are either being mischievous or deliberately blind to what we are doing. While critics thrive on propaganda, my focus remains on delivering dividends of democracy,” he stated.

 

The lawmaker added that true representation requires patience, planning, and partnership with government agencies to attract projects.

 

Looking ahead, Abang assured constituents that the remaining one year of the 10th Assembly will be even more productive.

 

“We are not done yet. Expect more classrooms, more roads, more water projects, and more empowerment in the next 12 months. I urge our people to discountenance sponsored attacks and continue to support us to do more,” he pledged.

 

Community leaders in both Ikom and Boki who spoke during the interaction commended the lawmaker for “remembering the grassroots” and urged him to sustain the tempo.
