Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting industrial growth and attracting high-value investments for the benefit of residents.

Abiodun said the commitment must extend to the grassroots, particularly communities where coronet monarchies had been established.

The governor spoke during the official installation and presentation of the instruments of office to the new Alaye of Imobi, Ijebu East Local Government Area, Oba Fatai Olatunji Balogun.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, the governor urged the new monarch to emulate the legacy of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, by contributing meaningfully to the development of his domain.

He also urged the people of Imobi to take advantage of the state government’s investment initiatives and become active partners in driving development in their community.

“I encourage the people of Imobi to become proactive champions of the state government’s investment initiatives, ensuring that progress thrives within their community and beyond,” he said.

Abiodun further charged the new monarch to provide leadership that would complement the government’s development efforts and leave a lasting impact on his people, noting that the late Awujale made significant contributions to the growth and development of Ijebuland during his reign.

The Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Dr Sunday Oluwadamilare, congratulated Oba Balogun and stressed the shared responsibility of leaders and citizens in advancing society.

He called for the effective utilisation of available resources to promote progressive leadership and sustainable development in the area.

The Obiri of Aiyepe, Oba Adebisi Okubanjo, urged the new monarch to adopt an inclusive approach to governance, saying this would be critical to securing the loyalty, trust and cooperation of his subjects.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Balogun thanked the state government for his installation and pledged to pursue transformative leadership in Imobi.

The event was attended by the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rasak Daddah; royal fathers; indigenes of Imobi and other dignitaries.
