Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security personnel and voters at the polling unit of the candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the ongoing governorship election in Osun State, Najeem Salaam have abandoned their duties.
This happened after some suspected political thugs stormed the Ward 4, Unit 13, Oke-Odo in Ejigbo, Ejigbo Local Government Area of the state, shot severally to the air and disrupted the voting process.
It was gathered that the polling unit was attacked by the thugs led by one ‘BIG HAMMER’ few minutes after the ADC candidate voted.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the thugs have disrupted the voting process and carted away ballot papers as well as other sensitive materials.
It was gathered that prospective voters and electoral officers fled the scene when the attackers stormed the polling unit.
Video clip sighted by our correspondent showed electoral officials, security personnel and potential voters scampering for safety after gunshots rented the air.
A yet to be confirmed report noted that one of the invaders was later apprehended by some courageous residents at the scene.
