The Biase Local Government Area Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State has urged aggrieved members to bury their differences and work together for the progress of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

 

The party also urged members to throw their weight behind the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu for a second term in office. as well as all other candidates of the party.

 

The call was made on Saturday during an APC stakeholders’ meeting and dialogue organised by the APC Biase Local Government Area chapter at the Basic Teachers Training Institute, Biase.

 

The meeting, themed “One Party, One Family, Unity, Solidarity, Progress,” brought together party leaders, stakeholders and faithful to strengthen unity and reconcile members.

 

Speaking at the gathering, the APC Leader in Biase, Bishop Alex Ukam, said the party had made significant progress in reconciling members who were dissatisfied with the outcome of its primaries.

 

“Our reconciliation has gone far already. A lot of those who probably did not agree with what played out in the primary were also present here. Many of them were present in the meeting, and some of them spoke,” Ukam said.

 

Explaining the approach, he said the key was treating members as one family.

 

“The magic is simple. The magic is based on our understanding that we are all sons and daughters of one father. There is no need for anybody to continue to carry grudges. You carry grudges against your brother, what would you gain?” he querrie

 

The Chairman of Biase LGA, Edodi Edodi, said residents had confidence in APC leadership because of what he described as the dividends of democracy being delivered to the area.

 

He said his administration had also earned the trust of the people through effective leadership and representation.

 

“The people elected me to serve them as a local government chairman, and they have seen that I have actually provided them with true leadership and good representation. That is why, any day, any time, under my leadership, if I call them together and give them a direction, they will follow,” he said.

 

Edodi commended Governor Bassey Otu for his leadership, appointments and achievements across the state.

 

“The governor has done so well for us in terms of appointments and leadership. He is somebody who is down to earth. He listens and has provided us with very good leadership across our state,” he said.

 

The council chairman urged residents to support APC candidates in 2027.

 

“I call on every meaningful Biase son and daughter to put their vote for the government, for all the APC candidates across our state and the country. There is no alternative to this party,” he added.

 

Also speaking, the APC Chapter Chairman in Biase, Bassey Sunday, called on members to remain united and put the interest of the party above personal differences.

 

“We must remain united as one family. Whatever differences we have had in the past, this is the time to put them aside and work together for the progress of the party and the development of Biase,” he said.

 

APC Chieftain Augustine Idam also urged members to sustain the spirit of reconciliation.

“We cannot achieve anything when we are divided. We must put personal interests aside and work together as members of one family,” he said.

 

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Ijom Ukam, urged youths to actively participate in the political process.

“The youths are critical to the future of our party and our state. We must encourage them to participate actively, remain peaceful and support policies and programmes that will improve their lives,” he said.

 

The stakeholders subsequently reaffirmed their commitment to the APC and pledged to work together to strengthen the party at the grassroots ahead of 2027.
