Group launches awareness campaign on sustainable self-care

Mental Health

The D’Bio Wellness & Self-care Hub has launched a one-month creative campaign, Expression Phase, aimed at promoting conversations around mental wellness through music and creative expression.

The campaign supports an integrated approach to physical and mental wellbeing, to strengthen self-care as an important component of healthier individuals, stronger families and resilient communities.

Organised by D’Bio Wellness & Self-care Hub in partnership with Playmode Music, Trace TV, Swypatune and Paparazi Visibility Concepts, Expression Phase invites rappers, singers, spoken-word artists, poets and other creatives to express themselves through the open verse of the campaign’s official theme song.

The initiative is part of activities preceding this year’s Self-care Summit, themed “The Self-care Ecosystem: Connecting the Pillars of Health.” The summit is expected to bring together policymakers, healthcare professionals, researchers, corporate organisations, wellness advocates, students, innovators, civil society organisations and community leaders.

The summit will focus on collaborative approaches to advancing self-care, wellness, preventive healthcare and health promotion. The organisers said the event would broaden conversations around the interconnected pillars of wellbeing, including physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental, occupational, financial and spiritual health.

The Founder of D’Bio Wellness & Self-care Hub, Dr Monica Eimunjeze, said self-care should not be viewed as a luxury but as a necessity for healthier individuals, stronger families, productive workplaces and resilient communities.

She said the summit and awareness campaign were designed to bring together diverse voices and expertise to build a sustainable culture of self-care that would benefit individuals, families and communities.

Eimunjeze urged government institutions, private organisations, healthcare professionals, students, the media and members of the public to participate in the initiative.

She said the objective was to inspire practical actions that would enable individuals and communities to take greater ownership of their health, while contributing to stronger and more resilient healthcare systems.
